Instructions:
In Hide It (Childrens Indoor Play Activity 69), you played the classic “warmer / colder” finding game with your child. Now give your child clues about common objects hidden in your house. Tailor the clues to your child’s abilities.
One variation involves beating the clock.
Use an egg timer or kitchen timer to create an air of excitement.
If several children are involved in the game, make sure that they understand they’re competing against the clock, not each other.
For older kids, try making up written clue cards on scrap paper or index cards. (“I am in something square.” “I am next to a small bottle.” “I am inside the largest thing in the living room.”)
Each card should contain a single clue; the goal is to see how few clues the child needs to locate the object.
Don’t miss the opportunity to call your child’s attention to things that have personal stories behind them, such as heirlooms or antiques, or items that bring your family history to life.
