An Indoor Play Activity
Your child will probably get a charge out of greeting people in many different tongues.
Materials Required:

Your child will probably get a charge out of greeting people in many different tongues.
Here’s a roundup of “good day” salutations in eight different languages:
Chinese: Neehow
Dutch: Goeden dag
French: Bonjour
German: Guten tag
Hebrew: Shalom
Japanese: Konichee-wa
Serbo-Croatian: Dobar dan
Spanish: Buenos dias
You can devise all sorts of games with these salutations: use a different one each morning, or have the child make up a story together and see if your child can use all of the greetings in a five minute span.
This will create a veritable tower of Babel! Perhaps this little game will stimulate a lifelong interest in learning languages.
Well, we gotta go – or habari za jioni, as they say in Swahili.
