An Arts and Crafts Activity
Here’s a way to make a calendar that truly revolves around your child’s sense of what’s important.
Materials Required:
- Large sheets of construction paper
- Sheet of posterboard
- Glue or doublestick tape
- Crayons or markers
- Photographs
Instructions:
Here’s a way to make a calendar that truly revolves around your child’s sense of what’s important.
On a large sheet of construction paper, draw a calendar grid for a particular month, a quarter, or the whole year.
Select dates that your child is sure to be interested in, such as his or her birthday, the birthdays of other family members, major holidays or travel plans, and so on.
Now cut out a flap for each date.
Place a piece of posterboard behind the calendar. Attach the two pieces with double stick tape or glue at the outer edges.
Open each flap and draw or affix an appropriate picture or photograph to the second sheet.
Then draw a picture for the outer flap, as well.
You can use the calendar to show your child how many days he or she has to wait before a special event.
You can also use it to announce outings you’ll know about a day or two in advance, such as trips to the zoo, the park, or a visit to a special friend.
