- Crayons or markers
- Dashboard items – Bottle caps, plastic container lids etc
- Toys, stuffed animals, household props
Instructions:
Manufacturing machinery can be fascinating for kids and adults alike. With this activity, your child can pretend that he or she is stamping out widgets (whatever those are), toys, or common household objects.
Take a large box and tape the flaps down. The box should be fairly sturdy.
Cut a flap near the bottom, giving your child access to the inside. (Remember that cutting cardboard is a grownup job.)
Cut a square hole in the back large enough for toys to pass through.
Now cut a few holes in the top-two should be just the right size to snugly hold toilet paper or paper towel tubes.
Decorate with crayons and then affix the plastic container lids, bottle tops and other dashboard items to make moving dials.
Collect several toys, stuffed animals, and household items such as radios or clocks.
Ask your child to close his or her eyes, then insert one of the items to be “manufactured” through the back.
Next, have your child turn the dials, flip the switches, and do other important stuff.
When your child decides the item is done, he or she simply opens the front flap, and there, ready for shipment to your house, is-whatever.
