Childrens Activity 13: Paper Greetings Cards Art

An Indoor Play Activity

With simple materials produce instant mailable greetings cards art. And no two are the same.

Materials Required:

  • Construction paper
  • Crayons, markers, or tempera paint

Optional Materials:

  • Pressed leaves
  • Pressed flowers
  • Glue
  • Sand

Instructions:

Provide your child with a sheet or two of construction paper, a set of crayons or markers, and an envelope, and presto! Instant, mailable greetings card art. And no two are the same.

If you don’t have any construction paper on hand, a trip to your stationery store is in order (get some envelopes while you’re at it).

Fold the paper over and let your child go to work.

Pre-readers can work on the decorative or “mood” themes, and you can write in the greeting or slogan later.

For kids just learning the alphabet, you can dictate the letters of the words. Let older kids write out their own cards.

In addition to artwork, you can include a pressed leaf or flower, as long as it’s dry, do some sand art, or use a potato stamp.

However your child creates the cards, the recipients are sure to appreciate the personalized effort and message. After all, it is the thought that counts.
