Materials Required:
- Dollar bill
Instructions:
Your older child will get a kick out of this quick currency quiz – with a twist.
Hand your child a one-dollar bill and have him or her look it over for a moment.
Then ask if your child can find the following objects on the bill:
1: The Roman numerals for 1776 (MDCCLXXVl)
2: Thirteen arrows
3: Thirteen stars
4: The word “tender”
5: A single eye in a triangle
6: A key
7: A mushroom
Here are the answers:
1: On the back of the bill at the base of the pyramid.
2: On the back of the bill, held by the eagle.
3: On the back of the bill above the eagle’s head
4: On the front of the bill beneath the word ‘United’
5: On the back of the hill at the peak of the pyramid
6: On the front of the bill superimposed aorounf the word ‘One’ as part of the Treasury Department seal
7: A tricky one. Looking at the front of the bill, fold the top third upwards, just above George Washington’s eyebrows. Now make another fold along George’s lips and bring the first third of the bill downward. A Washington mushroom!
