An Indoor Play Activity
This activity for two or more can generate some wild art.
Materials Required:
- Paper
- Colored pencils, crayons, and markers
Instructions:
Start off by drawing a line or a shape on a piece of paper.
Then ask your child to add a line or a shape of his or her own.
Then it’s your turn again; continue in this way until you complete a picture. Try beginning each new turn with a different colored pencil, crayon, or marker.
With each new line, describe what you see. This can be especially fun if one player is sitting on the opposite side of the drawing, since the two of you will have very different perspectives.
To entertain a group of kids, get a large sheet of newsprint or posterboard, so the drawings can bend back on themselves and wind around each other. For prolific drawers, have a stack of large sheets of paper ready.
Once you and your kids have finished drawing all the shapes and lines, you can take turns coloring in the spaces.
Then ask the artist(s) to think of a suitable name for the masterwork.
